Kannagi Rabbits

Meet the Kannagi Rabbits, an idol group combining pop music and aesthetics inspired by the Shinto religion, at Japan Expo 2024!

Posted on

Making their debut in 2019 in Osaka, the girls' band Kannagi Rabbits explores traditional Japanese folklore with a very particular concept: drawing inspiration from Shinto priestesses, religious cultural elements, and shrine aesthetics.

Their name refers to the famous legend of the Moon Rabbit, sent to the moon by a merciful god. Their lyrics are inspired by tales and traditions, and their outfits and video clips are reminiscent of the miko, young assistants to the priests in the shrines.

Thanks to their originality, they quickly made a name for themselves on the Japanese pop music scene, winning the W Award trophy in Asahi TV's "Idol Matsuri" contest in 2020. They are regularly invited to perform, both on stage and at shrines!

Their fans' enthusiasm has even earned them an appearance as characters in the manga If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die, which tells the story of successful Idols supported by their fans.

When they came to Japan Expo in 2022, they encountered great popularity from fans, and their compilation album Kannagi Rabbits 2019 - 2021 BEST topped the J-pop chart on Apple Music France.

The Kannagi Rabbits are back at Japan Expo this year. Don't miss their concerts and come and meet them at signing sessions and photocalls!
