The ancient practices of tea
This Summer, come drink tea in all its art, with the members of the greatest tea schools of Japan. They come to Japan Expo and turn their booths into real traditional tea rooms. Do you wish to be initiated to the ancient tea ceremony practices, or to the fabrication of bentô? This is the place where it all happens!
Three experts in the tradition of the tea ceremony are eager to meet you all at the WABI SABI area during the 15th Impact: the big master of the Enshu tea school, a school famous for its 450 years of practice in this field and for its style called “sabi of the beautiful”, welcome you to his traditional tea-room booth to display both his tea arts and his floral works.
His booth is near one from the members of Chikumei-dô, a family business that has been manufacturing accessories for the tea ceremony for over 500 years.
And with Rie TAKEDA and Kaori IWAI, you can also discover everything about the ceremonies of chazen and omotenashi. And to top all of this, you can also watch how to make bentô, and then tast it! Hospitality and zen attitude are the keywords here!
