Chazen and omotenashi
This Summer at Japan Expo, you can enjoy the chazen and omotenashi ceremonies, to discover the real meaning of those ancient practices. And to go with that, you can watch and learn how to make bentô! And the keywords are: hospitality and zenitude.
Chazen presentation, with Rie TAKEDA
It’s common knowledge that tea (cha) and zen are but one. During the ceremonies of chazen, you can enjoy what these two worlds brought together can bring you. There will also be food, since it’s closely linked to the tea and the zen worlds. So, through a demonstration of easy-to-prepare side dishes, like japanese omelettes, you can discover the context and the different kinds of bentô. And after learning how to prepare them, you can taste them!
Come find out what the union between chazen and bentô is: a healthy and economical Japanese culture.
Omotenashi presentation, with Kaori IWAI
Omotenashi (hospitality) means on the one hand to welcome a guest, on the other hand to be equal with everyone. Come feel this hospitality during the tea ceremony, by using the sadô otemae tools.
At this booth, you can simply taste the tea as a guest, or you can also be a host for one day. That’s the real japanese spirit of omotenashi.
Whether it is for a dear one, for someone you just met or for yourself, come serve some tea in all the beauty of its art!
