Since 1997, the Asahi newspaper has been awarding the famous Osamu Tezuka Literature Prize, which recognizes the best manga of the year. Named after the master of manga, author of Astroboy among others, the prize rewards the most inventive and amazing authors and works.
This year, it is a very young prodigy of 24 years old who won the prize: Uoto, for his historical series Chi, Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite, which tells how astronomers have made evolve the idea that the earth was revolving around the sun, with a background of wars of both ideas and religion.
Two other prizes were awarded, one for "novelty" and the other for "short story". These mangas are not translated yet, but we can hope that they will be very soon!
