Biography

From Saitama prefecture, Makoto AIZAWA has always been fascinated by manga, and he is a big fan of the 1970s experimental manga genre. As a child he had fun drawing manga on his school notebooks. Gradually, he has created his own style and has finally designed manga with strong graphic aspects, mixing emotions with simplicity.

His first manga, the one shot Quand La Neige M’appelle – When The Snow Calls Me –, reinterprets the famous Japanese myth Yuki no Onna (literally, snow woman). A true artistic success filled with poetry, for which in 2015 he received in Japan a special jury prize at kono manga ga sugoi (literally, this manga is great).

Moreover, in February 2019, the original drawing boards of the manga were exhibited at Okayama Museum of Art.

Do not hesitate to meet Makoto AIZAWA at signings on chattochatto's booth, on Saturday and Sunday!

Quand La Neige M’appelle – When The Snow Calls Me –

A red thread connects them, a thread and ...... a lullaby sweet and cruel at the same time, the one from the snow woman!

Two isolated soldiers in a storm. In an icy song, a woman white as snow appears. She will kill one of them and spare the other by binding him to her by a promise. That night, Sakai found love, but he doesn’t know it yet. He doesn’t know that he has opened the door of destiny and that, never again, will he be able to detach himself from the snow, neither him nor his people.
