Kia Asamiya

Legendary Kia Asamiya is coming to Japan Expo for a close encounter with his fans.

Kia Asamiya celebrates 40 years in the business this year. This successful manga artist and illustrator has made a name for himself with numerous titles known around the world.

Among his most famous manga are Silent Möbius, Compiler, Corrector Yui, The Fabulous Steam Detectives, and more recently, Spe Ope.

He is often considered a bridge between manga and American comics, and was one of the first Japanese artists to work regularly for Marvel and DC. 

At Marvel, he created numerous covers and also worked on the Uncanny X-Men series. At DC, he created BATMAN / The Dream Child, as well as a short work related to Hellboy.

His manga adaptation of Star Wars Episode I was highly praised by George Lucas himself.

He is currently working on a new series, Captain Symphonica, for Gamma comic magazine, while continuing Kanojo no Carrera GT3 in Leed Café.

In the field of animation, he has participated in works such as the remake series of Space Battleship Yamato and Legend of the Galactic Heroes, creating illustrations and visual design work. He also worked on the storyboard for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom.

Sous son nom Michitaka Kikuchi, il est aussi connu pour son travail de character designer sur Hikaru no Densetsu (Cynthia ou le rythme de la vie) ou encore Borgman.

The Silent Möbius x Avengers series, announced at Tokyo Comic Con 2025, will be published by Marvel.
