Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru is a Japanese animator born on May 22, 1962, closely affiliated with Toei Animation (Toei Animation Co., Ltd.) where he officiates as character designer and animation director on series such as Dragon Ball Z and the Digimon series, to name a few.

After working on feature-length theatrical anime productions, he gained recognition for his exceptional talent as a key animator, propelling him to important roles in the direction of the Dragon Ball adaptation.

The episodes he directed are still acclaimed to this day by the hardest fans of Akira Toriyama's work. So much so that many consider him to be one of the animators with the most faithful artstyle to the original manga.
From episode 200 onwards (Buu arc), all Dragon Ball Z episodes feature Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru's chara-designs.

He brought his own touch to the Digimon series, which has acquired a dedicated following.
Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru is still active after all these years, and in 2024, he takes charge of the chief animation director for Dragon Ball: Daima.
