Biography

Kazuo NIIBORI was born in Ibaraki prefecture in February 1955. Very young, he already wanted to be an actor. At 15, he left for Tokyo where he stayed at his sister’s and auditioned for various parts. He appeared in his first shows and films. During a shooting, he got spotted by the master and director of the Ono Kenyûkai who proposed to him to enter his school in 1971. He soon became part of the team of the show Kamen Rider and played minor parts. Very gifted and athletic, he got the role of Kamen Rider Amazon in 1974 and played in the film ESPY beside Hiroshi FUJIOKA. His career was on track.

In 1975, he became the stunt actor of the hero of a brand new genre of tokusatsu, sentai, in the show Himitsu Sentai Goranger. He put on Akaranger’s red costume but in the middle of the saga, a major disagreement between Toei and the Ono Kenyûkai forced him to quit in 1978. He became a freelancer.

He was contacted by Toei who offered him the part of the stunt actor for Battle Japan, Battle Fever J leader, and became the official stunt Red One of the genre for the next 13 years. He only “retired” from it in 1991 after the show Jetman. That’s also how he became the stunt actor for Red One in Bioman.

In 1984, as the show was shot, he decided to create his own company, Red Action Club. He taught his students stage martial arts and stunt performance. Almost ten years later, in 1992, he became the action director of the show Kyôryû Sentai Jyûranger, a show which was to become famous worldwide a year later as the first season of the Power Rangers franchise in the USA.

In the early 2000s, the company Red Action Club changed and became Red Entertainment Deliver proposing not only to produce and stage action scenes, but also young actors and stuntmen and -women for the productions.

Kazuo NIIBORI was rewarded by his peers at the third Japan Action Awards ceremony in 2015.

As Bioman is turning 35 this year, Japan Expo is bringing together the full team of the show to celebrate the event with them. Let’s celebrate this show that has become legendary for early pop culture fans with Michiko MAKINO (Pink Five), Akito OSUGA (Blue Three), Naoto OTA (Green Two), Ryôsuke SAKAMOTO (Red One), Sumiko TANAKA (Yellow Four II), and Kazuo NIIBOR (Red One stunt actor). Bioman

Created in 1984 by Toei, Bioman is super sentai TV show, a genre featuring superheroes in costumes fighting evil. The eighth series of this type in Japan, Bioman brought innovations like featuring two women among the five heroes, Yellow Four and Pink Five.

Its 51 episodes initially aired in 1984 and 1985 in Japan and soon also in France, first in 1985 and again in 1987. It was a success and the show became a must for the audience at the time.

Synopsis: The once prosperous Planet Bio is destroyed after a world war erupted over the use of a scientific discovery called "Bio Particles". The Planet Bio Peacekeeping Alliance, which sought to use Bio Particles for peaceful purposes, sends the giant robot Bio Robo and an assistant robot named Peebo to prevent the same tragedy from happening on Earth. Bio Robo arrives in 15th century Japan, where it showers Bio Particles on five young individuals. Five centuries later, the descendants of these individuals, infused with Bio Particles, are chosen by Peebo and Bio Robo to become the Bioman team to protect the Earth from the New Empire Gear, an organization led by mad scientist Doctor Man.
