The Cité internationale de la tapisserie has signed an agreement with Studio Ghibli Inc. for the realization of a series of monumental Aubusson tapestries extracted from great films signed by the master of Japanese animation, Hayao Miyazaki. A new large hanging destined to join the Cité's collections.
This operation, entitled "Hayao Miyazaki's imagination in Aubusson tapestry", consists in creating five tapestries from film images selected by the technical team of the Cité and validated by Studio Ghibli: Princess Mononoké (1997), The Voyage of Chihiro (2001), The Moving Castle (2004), Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984)
This conference will be an opportunity to explain the project and the creation process of this exceptional cultural and heritage operation.
The conference will be presented by Alice Bernadac, curator and deputy director of the Cité internationale de la tapisserie.
