Born in Mie, Japan, and raised in Aichi, MION comes from a musical background. Her father runs a music school, her mother is a piano teacher, and her three brothers all play instruments. Her love for music began at the age of six when she picked up her older brother's drumsticks. She then learned to play the guitar and piano.

Her music career began when she released her first single, "Fifteen", in 2010. In the same year, she participated in YAMAHA's Music Revolution contest (Japan's premier music contest). She won the local and regional finals and qualified for the national finals representing Nagoya.

At the finals of Music Revolution Japan, MION performed her original song "Ameagari -the best friend-" and won the Outstanding Performance Award, which helped launch her professional music career.

MION has been active for over ten years in Japan with eleven solo singles and one single as a member of J4J (a group with her three brothers). She has completed four national tours and has also performed in Canada, South Korea, and the U.K.

In 2016, MION released her first nationally distributed single, "Summer Magic," which reached #1 on the Oricon Daily Charts and peaked at #10 on the Oricon Weekly Charts. Her other singles, Alive (2017), Want You Back (2018), and S.O.S. -Soul of Steven- (2019), also ranked high on the Oricon Singles Charts.

In 2022, MION was granted a Global Talent Visa by the U.K. Home Office after receiving approval from Arts Council England. Since arriving in the U.K., MION has performed throughout the country and is now looking to the rest of Europe.

Her current goal is to continue to develop as a singer-songwriter and to help promote Japanese culture abroad. MION's dream is to create a bridge between European and Japanese artists so that they can collaborate and play music together.
