History of the Japan Expo Awards
The Japan Expo Awards were created in 2006. At the time, they rewarded the best productions in manga, anime, Asian cinema, video games and J-Music released in France. The winners were chosen by a professional jury and the public. The ceremony was taking place at Japan Expo in July every year.
In 2016, the Japan Expo Awards were reinvented after a few years’ break. From then on, they reward manga and anime released in the past year only, with different prizes awarded by the public and by a professional jury. The prizes are now shaped as Daruma and the ceremony takes place in March with publishers and professionals.
