Reno Lemaire

The famous author of the no less famous manga Dreamland is back at Japan Expo to meet you! Come and give him a warm welcome!

Posted on

Reno Lemaire is an author from Montpellier. He has always wanted to draw comics. He discovered manga, and was delighted: the graphics, dynamics, format and cutting stimulated his desire to make his own. He proposed a project to Pika Édition in 2004, and was pre-published in 2005. Reno draws his inspiration from video games, comics and Japanese cartoons.

Dreamland is his first title to be published. With the growing success of the series, Reno has acquired a notoriety unheard of in France for a mangaka. His ever-innovative graphic style and sense of narrative are the main reasons for this. But he has also made a name for himself thanks to the many hours he spends signing his works at fairs and other festivals. His constant good humor, his infectious passion for his work and his regularity in releasing his volumes have won him an ever-growing loyal following with each new publication!

He was one of the first to set up a "Japanese-style" studio with assistants in France. Salim Kafiz and Romain Lemaire (author of Everdark) assisted him from volumes 1 to 15. Since volume 20, he has had 2 new assistants, Pierre Etienne and géo.

The Dreamland series in a few figures: 16 years in the making, 20 volumes and a volume 21 scheduled for autumn, making it the longest-running French manga series, 700,000 copies sold and a print run of 25,000 copies for each new volume.
