Shinji ARAMAKI

For Japan Expo’s 15th anniversary, Shinji ARAMAKI is added to the many major names of animation already announced: come and meet the director of Appleseed and of the recent Space Pirate Captain Harlock!

biography

Born in 1960 in Fukuoka, Shinji ARAMAKI is a very prolific director and mecha-designer. He is a leader in the field of computer graphics and animation, on which his style has a great impact in Japan and beyond.

He began his career in the world of animation in the 80s. As a mecha-designer, he has been engaged in the making of Genesis Climber Mospeada (1983-1984),Megazone 23 Part I & Part II (1985-1986), Crush Gear Turbo (2001-2003), Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO (2004-2006), as well as Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos (2011), to mention only a few.

Comfortable and confident in all the cinematic creation posts he occupied, Shinji ARAMAKI was also involved in the production design of Bubblegum Crisis (1987-1991),Fullmetal Alchemist (2003-2004), Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shamballa (2005) and Soul Eater (2008-2009).

Among his major works as a director, there is Appleseed (2004), Appleseed Ex Machina (2007), Starship Troopers: Invasion (2012) and of course Space Pirate Captain Harlock (2013) released in Europe last winter.

In 2014, the audience had the pleasure to see him back for the making of Appleseed α, to be released soon.
