Maluko
Meet Maluko, the illustrator of Vanupied, published by Kana, at Japan Expo
The son of a French father and a Mexican mother, Maluko was born in Hungary and grew up in Prague. He started drawing at the age of 5 or 6, influenced by his older brother, who was taking lessons at the time. Although he stopped drawing, Maluko did not. After taking his baccalauréat S, he went on to study at Eurasiam, the only manga school in France at the time. After three years there, he tried to complete his training at another school, but only stayed for a year. After a short period of finding the right balance, he finally decided to devote himself 100% to drawing.
He then divided his time in two, first drawing boards for dossiers and competitions, then drawing fanart to sell at conventions. It was at one of these conventions that Valne met Maluko to tell her about his project: Vanupied.
They soon decided to work together and put together a publishing package. After a year's work, they sent it to publishers. Four months later, Kana contacted the duo and offered to publish them. They were more than happy to accept.
