Joranne is an illustratorauthor, and blogger. In 2007, she published her first drawings and notes on a comics strip blog. As a huge consumer of comics and animation films, she eventually falls into manga and anime, and as she devours them, she becomes familiar with Japan and finds many cultural aspects that come from China that she already knows about.

It was in 2009 that she finally landed on Japanese soil for the first time, but it was in 2013 that the comics blog became a blog where she talks about Japanese culture and objects (but still through drawings).

At the end of 2019, she moved from being a graphic designer to that of an illustrator. She released her first book, Maneki-neko et autres histoires d'objets japonais whose subject is, as the title suggests, "Japanese objects," whether they are everyday items, good luck charms, or related to festivities.

The book found its audience, and in 2021, a second was published: Torii, temples et sanctuaires japonais which deals this time with the architecture and objects in the sacred places but also the practices and rituals as well as the people who work there.

These humorous and well-researched books tell you everything. They are a window into Japan and a gold mine of information about Japanese culture.

Meet her during her signings sessions and during her conference Spirited Away, folklore and beliefs explained.
