The Paris Sumo club is the only club in France dedicated to the practice of Sumo wrestling, which is characterized by the size of the wrestlers as well as by the many traditional rites that surround the fights. This sport consists of two simple rules: wrestlers must not step out of the circle (dohyō), nor touch the ground with any part of the body other than the soles of the feet.
An ancestral martial art in Japan, amateur Sumo is practiced throughout Europe. It is above all an intense hand-to-hand combat, fights that last only a couple of seconds. It is a sport that develops a sense of balance and flexibility, where technique is combined with strength and agility. Heavyweight or lightweight, tall or short, girls or boys, Sumo can be practiced by everyone!
