Presentation

Since 2011, WABI SABI immerses Japan Expo’s attendees to the heart of the most beautiful aspects of Japanese culture and traditions, with an area that keeps on developing and proposing new features year after year. This year, it spreads over 700 sqm where 60 craftsmen will exhibit their creations on their booths.

WABI SABI is also about stage artists who put traditional stage arts and folk shows under the spotlight at the Sakura stage with theatre, music, and art performances which always bewitch the audience.

Follow our news in the coming weeks to know all about the artists and craftsmen attending Japan Expo 17th Impact.

The WABI SABI area

With 60 craftsmen, the arts and craft exhibit brings together 50 booths displaying calligraphy works, traditional dolls, ceramics, and so many more fascinating items.

Bearing the colors of Japanese summer, the booth will immerse you in a Japanese atmosphere thanks to the decoration realized by the group KIRIE.

The theme

This year, Japan Expo is opening on July 7, the day of Tanabata, the Star Festival in Japan. That’s why the name chosen for the WABI SABI area is “wishes”. Come and hang up your good wishes on bamboo leaves. You can write on those papers all your dreams, prayers for peace or good health.

Moreover, there will be a place for Kumamoto victims with special tanzaku (wishes written on papers) with Kumamon. Write your best wishes to support Kumamoto victims.
