Back at Japan Expo for the festival’s 15th anniversary, the Kumamon mascot comes all the way from the Kumamoto prefecture to come meet you and brighten up the cultural stage with his dynamic dance steps!

This charming fur ball is back at Japan Expo for the second year in a row! Kumamon comes all the way from the Kumamoto prefecture, from where he is the mascot. Born in March of the year 2011, after the Kyûshû Shinkansen line opened, he won the big national mascot contest that same year.
His work is to find surprising and happy things hidden around us, and making them known to everyone. He was promoted commercial manager by the governor of the Kumamoto prefecture and is works with an unstoppable enthusiasm.
He wants to let everyone know about everything concerning his lovely prefecture: so prepare yourself to see him coming to you and and meet you, wearing a totally new and funny costume he will display exclusively at Japan Expo!
At the cultural stage, his dancing spectacles Kumamon Gymnastics and Kumamonmon will cheer up everyone!

Gender: he is no “male”, but a “boy”

Best friends: governor Kabashima and Suzanne, the publicity manager from Kumamoto prefecture

Job: so far, civil servant. Appointed commercial manager by Kumamoto governor, he spreads the good aspects, attractions and surprises awaiting the visitors in Kumamoto!
