Daruma : presentation
Daruma is the annual meeting of the best of manga and anime! At Japan Expo, the public and the Selection Committee share their favorites, revealed at the end of the award ceremony!
In 2006, the Japan Expo Awards rewarded for the first time the best productions of the year in several categories related to Japanese pop culture. This year, the Daruma Awards were back, with a new format for the Phoenix edition!
Among the new features, an award ceremony has been held in public at Japan Expo and broadcasted on our Twitch channel and the one of Team Manga, to celebrate the two categories of the year: manga and anime!
from Selections to the list of winners
In 2022, 23 prizes - the Daruma - were awarded to the best productions since 2019 in the manga and anime categories. To select the works in the running, a selection committee in charge of establishing the list of manga and anime in competition was composed. These specialists, media actors, specialized influencers and personalities of the manga and anime worlds have delivered a complete list of nominees in multiple categories!
But this year, the main jury was you, the Japan Expo audience! The Daruma entrusted the Japan Expo community with the task of rewarding their favorite works among the selection previously made.
At the end of the votes, the winners were revealed during the award ceremony which took place on July 15, 2022, on the Také stage at Japan Expo.
This year, the winners of the Gold Daruma were :
- Gold Daruma, best anime of the year : Demon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaiba, Le train de l'infini, Le quartier des plaisirs (série TV), UFOTABLE, Horuo Sotozaki
- Gold Daruma, best manga of the year : SPYxFAMILY, Tatsuya Endô, Kurokawa
