Saitama Prefecture, located next to Tokyo, boasts rich natural beauty and historical sites, along with a wide variety of attractive tourist resources. It is also well-known as a hub of pop culture.
About Tabi (Traditional Japanese Socks):
Tabi, one of Saitama’s traditional crafts, are produced in Gyoda City. Located between the Tone and Arakawa Rivers, Gyoda has fertile soil where cotton and indigo were cultivated, leading to the production of indigo-dyed cotton fabric and the birth of tabi-making.
At its peak in 1938, Gyoda produced 84 million pairs annually—accounting for 80% of Japan's total production. Even today, the city manufactures around 8 million pairs each year, representing 60% of national production. Despite the popularity of socks, tabi are still made and continue to evolve, gaining attention both domestically and internationally. Gyoda is affectionately known as “the home of tabi.”

About Local Sake:
Saitama ranks among the top regions in Japan for sake shipments. Since the Edo period, high-quality sake has been brewed here using the underground water from the Arakawa and Tone river systems.
Saitama is home to 32 sake breweries—ranging from historic ones with over 200 years of tradition to newer, innovative producers.
At the Expo, we will sell sake from five breweries: Takizawa (Fukaya), Gonda (Kumagaya), Igarashi (Hanno), Ishii (Satte), and Kamaya (Kazo).
※The sparkling sake Kikuizumi Sparkling from Takizawa Brewery won a Platinum Award in the Sparkling Sake category at Kura Master in France.
