Biography

Yûko IWASA is a Japanese animator and chara-designer. As a student, her reputation for drawing gave her the nickname of "the monster" from her fellow students. After working Tezuka Productions for a few years, she’s now working as a freelancer.

Her art is characterized by a natural drawing showing a hint of eroticism. She shows many talents as an animator and knows how to handle the delicate expressions of steady scenes, as well as action scenes. The beauty of her animation in D.Gray-man also contributed to her reputation.

For a few years, she has often worked as an art director. Among her major works, let’s mention Kôchû Ôja Mushiking – Mori no Tami no Densetsu (2005), D.Gray-man (2006), Zettai Karen Children (2008), Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas (2009), Zetman (2012), Yowamushi Pedal (2013), Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare (2016), etc.

On the occasion of her very first trip outside Japan, Yûko IWASA has chosen Japan Expo to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the anime Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas. She is coming with Osamu NABESHIMA, the anime director, to give signings and a conference.
