BIOGRAPHY

In 2008, Reki KAWAHARA won the 15th edition of the Degeki novel Grand Prix with his title Accel World. His professional career started in February 2009, with the beginning of Accel World’s prepublication in the magazine Dengeki Bunko from Ascii Media Works editions. In addition to the novel, the publishing company asked him to work on an old project called Sword Art Online, published online. His prepublication started only a few months later, in April 2009, in the same magazine.

In order to promote his works, manga adaptations are published in 2010 for Sword Art Online and 2011 for Accel World. Reki KAWAHARA is also supervising these two projects, to make sure they remain faithful to the novel. The two novels were also adapted into anime series to commemorate the 20th birthday of ASCII Media Works, they were both broadcast on several Japanese channels in 2012. The same year, the author starts his 3rd series, Sword Art Online Progressive, which allows him to go back in details on the events that took place in the Aincrad, the giant fortress in the first part of the Sword Art Online novel.

In June 2014, Reki KAWAHARA started a new series called Absolute Solitude, still published by Ascii Media Works. Reki KAWAHARA is now a popular writer and the Sword Art Online series is his biggest success! Published in more than 10 countries (USA, England, Italy, China, France, etc.), he has already sold over 16.7 million copies over the world.

After the release of the first volume last March, the second volume will be released exclusively for Japan Expo: come and discover it during the festival, from July 2 at Ofelbe's booth.

On this occasion, Reki KAWAHARA is at Japan Expo with abec on Thursday, Friday and Saturday to meet you during a signing session. You can also attend his conference on Friday.
