In the course of his career, Koji TAKEUCHI has produced many legendary anime and worked with major figures of animation. Now committed to sharing and promoting his knowledge and passion, he will be our guest to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Japanese animation!

Biography

Koji TAKEUCHI is an animation producer and the former president of the studio Telecom Animation Film Co.,Ltd.

He began his career at Nippon Animation Co., Ltd. in 1976 as a member of the production team. He worked on various hit TV series with directors Isao TAKAHATA and Hayao MIYAZAKI who were both at Nippon Animation at the time. He joined Telecom Animation Film Co.,Ltd. in 1980 where many of his first projects kept on including Isao TAKAHATA and Hayao MIYAZAKI who had also moved to Telecom Animation Film Co.,Ltd. Together they worked on many TV shows and feature films such as Lupin The ThirdSherlock HoundJarinko ChieLittle Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland, and many more.

He has also worked with several international studios including Warner Bros. Animation (Tiny Toon AdventuresSuperman: The Animated SeriesThe New Batman Adventures) and Walt Disney Television Animation (DuckTalesThe New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh).

Recently, he has been devoted to nurturing young animation creators and design workshops with the Japanese government Agency for Cultural Affairs. He is currently the director of the 2012 Young Animator Training Project named Animation Boot Camp. In 2013, he studied Animation Education at Gobelins, l'école de l'image in Paris. From 2014, he has been managing the project ANIME TAMAGO with the Japanese government's Agency for Cultural Affairs. From 2016, he has been the director of Tokyo Anime Award Festival.
