Crystal Lake

Profile

Crystal Lake was formed in 2002, influenced by the mid-90s hardcore, ready to make an entrance on Tokyo’s hardcore scene. In early 2003, the band’s line up settled down. The musicians got busy right away and carried on two tours, two demos (Freewill and One Word Changes Everything), and an EP (Freewill), all the same year.

Their first full album, Dimension, was released in July 2006 and got very popular with the Japanese youth who went wild to their music. They kept on performing live, touring, attending festivals, alongside international bands, such as Parkway Drive (Australia) and Shai Hulud (USA) in 2009. In 2010, the album Into the Great Beyond went out.

2012 brought some changes in the band’s line up after the vocalist and drummer left. That’s when the current vocalist, Ryo, and drummer, Gaku, arrived alongside guitarists Shinya and YD, and bassist Bitoku. The single The Fire Inside / Overcome was released afterwards and the band toured again, alongside As Blood Runs Black (USA), Confession (Australia), or Emmure (USA).

In 2014, they released a new EP, Cubes, that debuted at #5 of the Oricon indie weekly album chart. The Cubes Tour 2014 followed with a great sold out final show. In the meantime, they also played on Crossfaith’s Across The Future Tour. While keeping on with live performances, they also release two albums, The Sign in 2015 and True North in 2016.

2017 is an important year for the band with a new single, APOLLO, last October, an Asian tour, the celebration of their 15th Anniversary with a show hosting 15 guest bands from Japan and all over the world, and their first headline tour in Europe, with nine shows in five countries (Germany, Austria, France, UK, and Switzerland).

The year 2018 is going to be just as busy with the Hyperspace Tour 2018 in Japan, at a series of shows at festivals in the Philippines and several countries in Europe. And in the middle of all that, they will be performing for you at Japan Expo 19th Impact to put the Karasu stage on fire on Friday. You can also meet them at a signing!
