Introduction

Kumamon comes all the way from the Kumamoto prefecture, where he is the mascot. Born in March of the year 2011, after the Kyushu Shinkansen line opened, he won the big national mascot contest that same year.

His work is to find surprising and funny things hidden around us, and making them known to everyone. He was appointed commercial manager by the governor of Kumamoto and wants everyone to know about his lovely prefecture!

Kumamon is inviting you for a special show along with his mascot friends, and with UMI☆KUUN on Thursday and EGU-SPLOSION on Saturday, on the Kitsune stage. Don't miss this show featuring funny choreographies.

HELP KUMAMOTO AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!

Last April’s earthquakes in Kyushu caused many damages and it’s now time to rebuild: to show the solidarity of all French fans of Japan and its culture and put all their efforts in one, Japan Expo is launching the operation Tous solidaires avec Kumamoto !

Everyone can contribute and help Kumamoto prefecture by purchasing the Kumamon badge on sale on our website, and then at Japan Expo from our cash desks and official shop. All the donations will be given as part of the rebuilding of Kumamoto and the area.
