Yoshiyuki ITÔ and Meow on the 15th anniversary stage!

It is by a timid “Meow” that Yoshiyuki ITÔ, the chara-designer of Full Metal Alchemist, starts the conference.

Big fan of Gundam, it is inspired by the mythic anime that he enters in an animation school in Japan. Among all the roles he had to play, it is without any hesitation that he says to his fan preferring being an animator, a hard mission since its core is to please the watchers according to him. 

The conference keeps on going and gets animated by the unexpected coming of Meow, an alien-cat from the anime Space Dandy!

If he is known for being the chara-designer of Full Metal Alchemist, Yoshiyuki ITÔ is also appreciated for his work on Soul Eater (2008) or even Summer Wars (2009). He is currently working on the chara-design of the delirious series Space Dandy. 

Space Dandy is a crazy sci-fi series, and is mainly focusing on the characters of Dandy, Meow and QT. The stylish Dandy is in perpetual search of new races of aliens to earn big amounts of money.

If the first season was already crazy enough, the second one will be even more and ITÔ is already announcing the coming of many new and colorful characters! A story to follow very closely….

The meeting is cut by a surprising event, Minami MASAHIKO, the founder of the studio BONES (Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne), sorry for not being present at Japan Expo, is on the telephone. Currently introducing the season 2 of Space Dandy  in the United States for Anime Expo, he let a message to his fans: “Bonjour. Enjoy the season 2 of Space Dandy! This is a message to all the visitors of Japan Expo”. A short and efficient message which will surely be respected by the many fans present at the festival.

Yoshiyuki ITÔ continues to answer the public’s questions while being focused on his drawing. Questions keep on coming and the public learns that Scarlett is the character that takes him the longest to draw, that he sleeps at least seven hours every day and that it is a pure coincidence if QT looks like an aspirator… Finally after more than twenty minutes, it is a beautiful portrait of Meow that we can contemplate on the paper.

After having posed wearing the strange red hat of our favorite alien-cat, Yoshiyuki ITÔ puts an end to the conference with few words: “It is my first time in Paris. I am very glad to be here and invite you to watch the season 2 of Space Dandy!”
