Mario, Pokémon, Link, Star Fox, and many more have inspired David BULL and Jed HENRY. They have used the process of ukiyo-e (literally, "images of the floating world", ukiyo-e is a genre of art dating back to the Edo period, famous for woodblock prints) to create a series of woodblock prints called Ukiyo-e Heroes. The technique they use is fully authentic: Jed HENRY designs the prints and then David BULL carves the wood using the techniques of Edo printers.

You can watch more about those processes on David BULL’s Youtube channel.

And to see more of their works, have a look at their website, ukiyoeheroes.com, and follow them on facebook.
