Overview of the Street Fighter tournament: Kayane VS the audience
Kayane, the Street Fighter World champion, has heated up her joystick against the bravest among the audience, and against Daigo IKENO, the designer of the license!
What do you say of a fight between Street Fighter’s designer and World champion? No, this is not a dream, it really happened today at Japan Expo’s Video Game stage, under the screams of an audience going wild!
Just like a baby doll, Kayane arrived on stage dressed of a little red dress and accompanied by Marcus, host of Nolife, a French TV network that mainly deals with videogames, technology and Japanese culture. Who could look at her and still attempt to virtually knock her out? But don’t let yourself be fooled by her appearance: the World champion, or rather the « intergalactic champion », like Marcus loves to call her, has once again made quick work of her poor opponents today.
But before she even starts to crush her opponents, she who participated to more than 80 tournaments throughout the world joined Marcus to welcome on stage Daigo IKENO. Ready to draw Kayane into Chun-Li and Marcus into Dhalsim during the first tournament, he first answers some questions like “why are Chun-Li thighs so big?” and we also learn that his favorite characters are Ryu and Ken, but that he prefers to draw monsters and chunky people.
May the game begin! Before each round, Kayane and Marcus choose two people from the audience to represent each of them during the tournament. And the final big winner gets a unique gift: his portrait drawn by IKENO, the one and only, into the character that they want. Such an honor! The fans also had the chance to see a fight between Ken and Ryu, a classic! And finally, the winner is someone from Marcus’ team. Well, as you may have imagined, now that it’s Kayane’s turn to enter the game, she’s ruthless: “All of those who were happy to see me being defeated, please show yourself. You’re just about to laugh less…”, she says.
With the audience cheering and the Marcus’ acute sense of humor, Kayane’s poor opponents tried to defend themselves the best they could. But always smiling and calm during the game, and above all very confident, she carries on the combos and Perfects with the majestic Chun-Li. Everyone tries to defeat her: the audience, Marcus, a young man from the production team, fond of video games and brave enough to try his chance, and also MAN from the band 1000say! But even blindfolded and with her hands crossed, the queen of Street Fighter cannot be dethroned.
And as a good finale, the designer of the license comes once again on stage and offers his fans a real show: a fight against Kanaye. During a long moment, the audience was silent and dismayed, holding their breath while watching the first rounds, until Kayane ends the game with an incredible final combo that reduces the tension in the air and starts a boisterous overexcitement! For many of you, it was without a doubt THE moment of the day.
