Halloween #2: Kawasaki Halloween Parade

In a country where cosplay is part of culture, Halloween parades had to be outstanding. And that’s exactly what the participants to the Halloween Kawasaki Parade were like: take a look!

Posted on

With 3,500 participants and over 100,000 spectators, the Halloween Kawasaki Parade is the biggest one in Japan, in Kanagawa prefecture, South of Tokyo. This year, it took place last weekend, on October 26, for the 17th time. On top of the 1.5 km parade, a cosplay contest, a horror film festival and DJ sets were part of the event.

More and more events, parties and parades are organized for Halloween in Japon, such as:

  • Roppongi Hills Halloween Parade, the biggest in Tokyo, with 3,000 participants, a 1 km parade, candies for children and participants dressed as movie characters, this year’s theme
  • the Shibuya Adult Halloween event, organized for the first time this year on Yokohama-Shibuya, Tokyo train line, was also the first organized in a train
  • Yokohama Yamate Seiyokan Halloween Week which, contrary to what its name says, takes place during one day in Yokohama. Participants walk through the city, get prizes, and of course candies
  • Rokko Island Halloween Festival, in Kobe, with a parade, a costume contest, pumpkin carving and a haunted house
  • Kitayama Halloween Festival, in Kyoto, with a parade, pumpkin carving, and a food village
  • and so many more.

Spooky Halloween everyone!
